I've created a short movie clip of the MythTV Commercial Detection in action. About a second or two after the commercial starts, I hit the commercial skip button. You can see how MythTV skips to the end of the commercial break.
This will only work on previously recorded programs (duh!) that have had the commercial detection postprocessing performed. It's possible, and standard practice, to have MythTV set to automatically scan and flag commercial breaks after a show is finished recording.
They keyboard key to skip to the next MythTV commercial flagged cut-point is "Z". Your button on your remote control may vary, but Z is what to look for in your lirc remote mapping.
